Supanova Sydney 2005 Convention Report

Friday Night - 21st April
We arrived at Supanova at around 7pm for the Preview night. Although it actually started at 6pm, we were running late because of our costumes and things. I dressed up as the Linda Danvers Supergirl, Adam dressed as Superboy. The night actually had a lot more people than the Sydney one with a lot more cosplayers too. There was a premiere showing of Boss Beat, a comic book inspired movie and the Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Marello. We left around 9pm to head home to work on the costumes some more.
Saturday - 20th April
We were running late unfortunately as we had to put on our costumes. Believe it or not, but Superboy Prime is quite a complicated costume to put on while mine was relatively easy. Luckily a friend picked us up as walking down there for 40 mins would have been really bad for Adam in his armour. I was dressed as the Kara Zor-el Supergirl in the new Supergirl outfit. We wandered around for a bit, then headed straight to the Comics Etc. booth where Geoff Johns and Phil Jimenez were being hosted. As soon as Geoff and Phil saw us, they got excited and said "It's Superboy Prime!" and we got our photos taken with them. It was such a cool reaction from them. We didn't have our comics with us for them to sign, so we just went wandering around checking out all the booths. Found some back issues we needed and some cheap comics. Cheap comics are ALWAYS a good thing! I bought Lady Death: The Reckoning trade paperback which made me very happy.
Sunday 21st April
Woke up nice and early so we could pack in time for checking out. I got into my Cammy outfit this time, I love wearing that costume! Adam wore Superboy Prime once again. We did a fair bit of wandering, saw the replica of General Lee and a whole bunch of COOL cosplayers. There was a Firefly group, a Matrix group, some Farscape cosplayers, and Shaun of the Dead with a zombie. There were also heaps of anime cosplayers too. I didn't recognise half the anime cosplayers though but some costumes were extremely well made and made me envious of their skill in making costumes. I want to make Ravager from Teen Titans for my next costume. The kids were sooooo cute all dressed as little Jedis, Darth Vaders and other characters all ready for the kids Star Wars cosplay competition. My other friend's nephew wasn't cosplaying but he was wearing a Jango Fett t-shirt and got his photo taken with Boba Fett AND Jango Fett. The kid was in heaven.
The whole weekend I missed out on seeing River (Summer Glau) which kinda sucked. But I did get to see Patrick Kake from Narnia and other movies. And John Schneider (Jonathan Kent on Smallville and Bo Duke from Dukes of Hazzard). There was a half price on most stock at Mr Toys Toyworld for only 5 mins so I got into there and found a Jack Skellington wobbleweight for half price... then I spotted a really nice print of Boba Fett and a Babylon 5 print with Shadows on it, so I got those for half price too! I was so happy. I also found a Disney Jack Skellington figure and the guy selling it put in a free box of Pocky! More goodies. I had a great weekend and arrived back home exhausted.
